Research interests
Measurement & psychometrics. How well we measure things drives everything downstream. I work on scale scoring and missing-data decisions (person-mean imputation, prorated scale scores, completeness thresholds), measurement invariance, and structural equation and item response models.
Privacy-preserving synthetic data. With NSWERS, I generate synthetic versions of large, longitudinal administrative datasets so researchers and policymakers can explore them without exposing individuals, and I evaluate how faithfully they reproduce the original data (tidysynthesis, syntheval).
Applied evaluation & public policy research. At the NEAR Center and the Public Policy Center, I support program evaluation and policy research for state agencies and community partners, from study design and survey methods through analysis and reporting.
Research data infrastructure. Documentation, variable lineage, and reproducible pipelines: the tooling that lets teams trust and reuse their data. This is where my software comes from.
Youth physical activity & exercise physiology. My dissertation examined youth sport participation and cognitive development, and the need for better measurement. Earlier work covered neuromuscular fatigue, high-intensity interval training, and physical performance testing. See publications.
